Motherhood brings parts of you to the surface.

The parts trying desperately to be a Good Mom.

The parts terrified you’re a Bad Mom.

The parts longing for connection.

And the parts that desperately want everyone to leave you alone for five minutes.

All of them belong here.

Meet Your Mom Parts

"GOOD MOM" PARTS:

Hardworking protectors trying to keep everyone safe, prepared, cared for and okay.

"BAD MOM" PARTS:

Angry, resentful, checked-out, frustrated, panicked or overwhelmed protectors that often show up around a breaking point.

"INNER BABY" PARTS:

Tender parts carrying feelings like sadness, fear, longing, vulnerability and unmet needs.

INNER MOM:

Our internal capacity for curiosity, compassion, calm, connection, clarity, confidence, courage, creativity and choice.

"Good Mom" and "Bad Mom" parts all have good intentions.

There are parts of you working incredibly hard to mother your children, protect what matters, manage everything, hold it together...

and parts that show up when you simply can’t anymore.

The Mom Parts framework gives you a different way to understand them.

You don't need to get rid of any of your parts.

You can help them relax and soften, by just getting to know them.

 What if moms mattered, too?

Parenting culture focuses on what kids need, and on how moms can improve.

The Mom Parts framework focuses on mom’s internal experience.

Instead of asking “What is wrong with me?” we can become curious about “What is this part trying to do for me?”

It turns out - when moms understand themselves, they do a better job mothering.

Hi. I'm Jessica

I’m Jessica Tomich Sorci, LMFT, PMH-C, therapist, mom, author of When Good Moms Feel Bad, and creator of the Mom Parts Method.

For more than 15 years, my work has centered on mothers—the parts of us that try so hard to get it right, the parts that reach a breaking point, and the tender parts underneath it all.

Mom Parts grew from years of sitting with moms and seeing the same thing again and again: when we stop judging what’s happening inside us and start getting curious about it, we make so much more sense to ourselves.

I believe motherhood can bring parts of us to the surface that we never knew were there. The anxious parts. The angry parts. The perfectionistic parts. The parts that adore our children—and the parts that desperately want five minutes alone.

All of them belong.

Mom Parts is a place to understand those parts with more compassion, curiosity, and honesty—and to find your way back to the wise, capable Inner Mom that’s already within you.

I’m so glad you’re here.

MY BOOK: When Good Moms Feel Bad.

This book offers a grounded introduction to the work, and reflects an existing body of thought, practice, and published material describing the wider Mom Parts approach.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to be a new mom?

No. Mom Parts is for mothers in many stages and seasons of motherhood.

What are the 5 Steps of The Mom Parts Method?

1.  Through inward focusing, notice which Mom Parts are present and needing care and attention.

2.  Give your parts a descriptive name and get curious about their role in your system.

3.  Validate and witness the truths your parts have been carrying.

4. Touch into the "inescapable vulnerabilities" of motherhood: the grief and/or shame underneath your protective parts.

5.  Access your Inner Mom's resources (Ramedies) nd offer your parts what they're needing most.

Do I need to know Internal Family Systems (IFS)?

No. You do not need prior IFS knowledge to engage with Mom Parts language or offerings.

What if I can't attend live events?

Live attendance is not required to be a part of the community. The Library is there for support when you cannot join in real time, and there is no need to catch up.

Is Mom Parts therapy?

No. Mom Parts offerings are educational and community support spaces, not psychotherapy or medical treatment.

What is Mom Parts KAP?

Mom Parts is the larger framework and community for understanding the different parts of you that motherhood brings to the surface and the more vulnerable parts underneath it all.

Mom Parts KAP brings this same framework into ketamine-assisted psychotherapy (KAP). In these small, facilitated experiences, eligible participants may use prescribed ketamine as an optional support for deeper parts work, followed by intentional integration.

Is Mom Parts for Moms or Professionals who support Moms?

Both!

Mom Parts was created for moms and for the professionals who support them.

If you’re a mom, you’ll find spaces to better understand your inner world, connect with other moms, and explore your Mom Parts with more curiosity, compassion, and choice.

If you’re a therapist, clinician, facilitator, or other professional who supports moms, you’ll find trainings and experiential offerings designed to help you understand the Mom Parts framework and bring it into your work.

Some Mom Parts offerings are specifically for moms, some are specifically for professionals, and some welcome both. Each event or program will clearly tell you who it’s designed for.

There is room for all of you here.

The loving part.

The tired part.

The responsible part.

The furious part.

The scared part.

The part that needs something too.

All Mom Parts Are Welcome.
